Designers & PMs who have not yet adopted AI in their workflow, what are you waiting for?

A course certification? What is this 2010s…

I’ve been in design, product, code, execution. You name it. I know what it’s like to build, experiment and adapt. One thing I’ve learned? The best creators don’t just “do” design. They think, solve and evolve.

If you’re still designing the way you did five years ago AI is about to leave you in the dust. Now I’m not someone who dismisses visual design. I truly admire designers who create compelling visuals. I recognize there is something unique in your original art that no AI can replicate even though many have tried to replace visual designers with their own version of AI Templates (It’s cheaper).

AI Isn’t the Threat. Mediocrity Is

If your workflow is “Give me A- I’ll do A. Tell me A to Z- I’ll do A to Z” AI is coming for you sooner than you think. But if you’re the kind of designer who questions things, experiments and thinks beyond the task, AI is your ultimate leverage. It’s not replacing creative problem solvers. It’s replacing those who simply follow course material to the letter without adding personal insight or innovation. AI can do that job faster than you ever could.

For Those Who Got Sold the UI/UX Certification Dream

Let’s be real. A lot of people got duped into thinking UI/UX certification was a guaranteed ticket to a booming design career. Courses popped up everywhere churning out certified designers with little more than a checklist based skillset, I alone won’t consider candidates with such course to shortlist when I hire a designer. If you feel trapped in a cycle of “make the button blue, move the text left” it’s not your fault but it is your responsibility to pivot.

AI driven design is the real next shift. It’s not too late to transition into AI powered product thinking, workflow automation or even adjacent fields where your skills have true value.
